Kenya Formative Study Report Launched

Nairobi, Kenya: GESCI, Makerere University College of Education and External Studies and University of Notre Dame’s Global Center for the Development of the Whole Child launched a report on utilisation of learning assessments in Kenya.

Participants from Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development, Kenya Institute of Special Education,Ministry of Education-Basic Education, Special Education and Secondary Education Directorates and Non profit organisations attended this launch.

Speaking during the launch of this report,Dr. Gichuhi Ndegwa from the Directorate of Secondary Education,Ministry of Education said "There has been a lot of emphasis on an examination system that assesses mainstream subjects and not much has gone into assessment of life skills and values."

Dr. Ndegwa went on to say that there is need to utlise findings from studies like the ADAPT one to inform education policy making and review.

The ADAPT project is implemented by a Consortium of 3 partners: GESCI, Makerere University College of Education and External Studies and University of Notre Dame’s Global Center for the Development of the Whole Child and funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) under the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Knowledge and Innovation Exchange (KIX) program and is implemented in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
