The Young Scientists Kenya (YSK) Science and Technology Exhibition 2019

10 secondary schools implementing the African Digital Schools Initiative (ADSI) programme were among the 70 schools presenting projects at this year's exhibition hosted by YSK.

Nairobi, Kenya; 3 - 7th August, 2019: The Young Scientists Kenya (YSK) in partnership with the Ministry of Education, the Embassy of Ireland and BLAZE by Safaricom officially launched the second National Exhibition on Saturday 3rd August, 2019 at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) in Nairobi, Kenya.

The event was graced by His Excellency President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, as well as  national and international guests drawn from the Government, the private sector, Academia, non-state actors and schools throughout the country. The event will showcase the scientific talents of the young participants and their solutions towards national development, and attainment of the BIG 4 Agenda and Vision 2030

The winners of the national Young Scientists Kenya (YSK) competition were announced at a glittering awards ceremony at the KICC.

Leaders from Government, business and civil society will present a range of prizes and scholarships to Kenya’s top students in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

The overall winners received cash prizes, a trip to Ireland to participate in the BT-Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in January 2020 and full scholarships, courtesy of Strathmore University.

Salvation Army Joytown secondary school implementing ADSI came second in the category of Biological and Ecological Sciences.

GESCI has worked collaboratively with YSK to ensure students from the secondary schools implementing showcase their projects during such science and technology exhibitions.
