GESCI, July 17, 2017: The Global E Schools and Communities Initiative (GESCI) and JP-IK Portugal signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 17th July, 2017 to promote and accelerate the integration of ICT in education and endorse quality, equity and improve learning outcomes to build inclusive knowledge society.
The purpose of this MOU is to capitalise on the complementarity between GESCI and jp.ik, two leading organizations with global outreach in the field of ICT in education, to consolidate and further promote collaboration aimed at helping African education and training systems to achieve their policy goals for the social and economic transformation of the continent through:
- Accelerating the integration of ICT to enhance the equality of access and reduction of gender imbalance;
- Advancing the development of Knowledge Societies through Education,Science,Technology and Innovation (STI) and ICTs;
- Facilitating digitally based youth skills development and entrepreneurship.
GESCI and jp.ik will co-organize regional capacity building workshops on ICT integration for officials of Ministries of Education from selected African countries. In partnership with relevant stakeholders, GESCI and jp-ik will also jointly develop and implement, within the framework of the CESA ICT in Education cluster, the Oporto African Forum and the African Forum for Youth Skills and Enterprise in the Digital age.
