GESCI is conducting ICT-Based training for 400 teachers in the regions of Pwani and Morogoro in Tanzania.
The training on Technology Literacy covers the first cycle of the African Digital Schools Initiative (ADSI) Programme, which seeks to transform 40 secondary schools into Digital Schools of Distinction as models for subsequent scaling.
Teachers participating in the training expressed enthusiasm and were eager to learn skills that will improve their teaching through integration of ICTs.
This phase of teacher training will continue over a period of 8weeks which includes school visits by experts to assist and monitor the incorporation of the newly-acquired 21st century skills in their daily teaching.
Further phases of the ICT-based training will be provided to ensure that participant teachers feel competent and knowledgeable to utilize ICT effectively in their teaching, especially in the STEM subjects.
